Italian Parmesan Oyster Crackers are a savory addictive snack that is so easy to make; they only have a few ingredients, and there is no baking involved.

A side view of a red bowl filled with oyster crackers.

These Italian Parmesan oyster crackers are made with only five ingredients oyster crackers, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, garlic salt, and olive oil.

They make a great snack. I love that these are so simple to make. Also, it is nice that there is no baking involved.

Helpful Tips

  • The grated parmesan cheese in a jar works well for this recipe.
  • For best results, use olive oil for the recipe. Vegetable oil will not add flavor to the crackers.
  • After adding the oil mixture to the crackers, mix every 15 minutes for one to two hours.
  • Let the crackers set for a day before serving them. This will help to meld the flavors.
  • Store the crackers in an airtight container on the counter. Do not refrigerate.
  • Freezing is not recommended for the crackers.

These are a blast from the past! Except the ones I’ve had were made with a dried Ranch dressing packet. I like your homemade version much better!

I’ve made the ones with ranch dressing and lemon pepper that you back until light golden brown. They are very good. But I think these may be even better and no baking involved!
I’m going to make some as gifts.

Footnote, I did use mini saltines in place of oyster crackers, they just seem to absorbe the flavors better 🙂

Hi Lori, I have never used garlic powder for the recipe, but I think it should work. If you want to make your own garlic salt the ratio is one part of garlic powder to 3 parts of salt. I hope you like the recipe.

I use garlic powder all the time. I don’t think of it as a substitute for salt. There is something called garlic salt, as Dawn mentions, but garlic powder and garlic salt are not the same. I have a feeling if you add garlic powder, you’re still going to want salt. (I hope you don’t mind my adding in here, Dawn!)

Hi Jeff, no I don’t mind. I should have mentioned that the powder and salt are not the same. I thought that I would add how to make the garlic salt, so the reader could make the garlic salt. Also, since these are oyster crackers, there is salt on the cracker. Thanks for you help.
