Change up your pizza night with this caramelized onion and mushroom pizza. It is perfect if you are looking for a meatless meal or if you are looking for something different to serve during the Lenten season.

The pizza is made with simple homemade pizza dough, but if bread-making is not your thing you can buy pizza dough from the store. Combining the caramelized onions with the mushroom gives this pizza a wonderful flavor.

Helpful tips

  • Read the directions completely before starting the recipe.
  • If making the homemade pizza dough, make it first before anything is done. This will give it time to rise.
  • Watch the onions closely when caramelizing so that they don’t burn, stirring them occasionally.
  • If you prefer the onions and mushrooms can be put on the crust and the cheese can be added on top.
  • The pizza is done went the crust of the pizza is golden brown.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.

  2. If you are making homemade pizza dough, you will want to have the dough made before cooking the onions so that it has time to rest.
  3. Store-bought pizza dough will work for this recipe if you are short on time.
  4. The pizza can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
  5. It is best to reheat the pizza in the oven. Set the temperature to 350 degrees F and heat until the desired temperature. For a faster way to heat the pizza, use the microwave.

Mushrooms & onions, raw or caramelized, are my favorite pizza toppings. No meat on my pizza!
