Tips for making the best chocolate chip cookies:
- Make sure that the butter and eggs are at room temperature.
- To make a chewier cookie use brown sugar. I like to mix in some granulated sugar in this recipe. I do it because of the flavor of the cookie.
- Add enough flour. If you don’t add enough flour your cookies will turn out flat. The dough should not be overly sticky. If you think that you may not have enough flour in the cookie dough test bake one cookie. If you don’t have enough flour you can add more.
- Use high-quality chocolate chips
- Use butter over margarine.
- Make sure not to overbake the cookies. When the edges are lightly brown and the tops of the cookies are set it is time to take them out of the oven. Let them set on the baking sheet for a few minutes to finish the baking process.
- When the cookies are baked, store them in an air-tight container.
Can you freeze chocolate chip cookies?
Yes, most certainly you can. Very seldom do I make less than 3 batches of this recipe at a time. I love to put them in the freezer for treats when the kids come over. Just make sure the cookies are in an air-tight container. I find that you can keep them in the freezer for up to 3 months and they still taste like they were just baked.
Steps for making these chocolate chip cookies:
Step One – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking sheet or use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Step Two – Sift together the flour, soda, and salt and set aside.
Step Three – To a medium bowl add the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar and mix together with an electric mixer. Add the eggs and mix until well blended. Mix in the vanilla.
Step Four – Gradually beat in the flour mixture. Mix int the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoons on the prepared baking sheet.
Step Five – Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the cookies 13 to 15 minutes or until the edges are slightly brown and the tops are set.
Step Six – Remove from the oven and let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for a few minutes before removing and setting them on a cooling rack to cool.

Is there anything better than warm chocolate chip cookies? Yum! I think I’ll try your tip of using enough flour. My cookies, although delicious, are always on the flat side. 🙁 Thanks for the photos and easy instructions!
