The Super Bowl will be played this weekend here in the USA. A lot of you will be hosting parties for the big day. Dips and chips will be served at a lot of these parties, I am sure that guacamole is on the menu for a lot of parties.
This past weekend Mike and I made guacamole, not because we were hosting a party, just because we both had a craving for it. After we were eating it I thought wow this is great timing to put this on the blog for the big game.
We have made guacamole before, but could never find the right recipe; every recipe that we tried left us disappointed. So we started buying the mixes and they are tasty, but when you look at the ingredients you wonder what you are eating. There are always those ingredients that you cannot ever pronounce.
A few weeks ago I made an avocado salsa that was really tasty and that really got me thinking, if we added a few more ingredients that it would be a great guacamole dip. So that is exactly what we did, we creamed the avocados and added a few more ingredients and it turned out so delicious. We had a hard time not to eat the whole bowl in one sitting.
So here is the recipe for a yummy guacamole...
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded
2 cloves garlic
1/4 cup onion coarsely chopped
1 Roma tomato finely chopped
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cumin
Juice from 1 lime
1. Remove the seeds from the jalapeno and coarsely chop, put in a food processor (a mini one works great). Process until finely chopped, to this add the cloves of garlic and the chopped onion. Continue to process until everything is finely chopped and set aside.
2. Cut each avocado in half and remove the seed, remove the pulp and mash. Add the jalapeno mixture, sour cream, salt, cumin, and juice from lime blend until smooth. Add the chopped tomato and mix until well blended.
3. Serve with your favorite chips.
