Sweetened shredded Coconut Chopped Almonds Egg Whites Sugar Cream Of Tartar Salt Almond Extract Vanilla

Milk Chocolate chips Shortening

Step 1

Add the egg, cream of tartar, salt, and vanilla to a medium bowl.

Step 2

Whip the egg white mixture until soft peaks form. Add the sugar.

Step 3

After sugar is added beat until stiff peaks form. Add the coconut and chopped almonds and fold in. 

Step 4

Drop by large spoonful onto the prepared baking sheet.  

Step 5

Bake for about 20 minutes in a 325 degree F oven or until lightly browned. 

Step 6

Add the chocolate chips and shortening to a microwave-save bowl.

Step 7

Microwave for 20 seconds at a time, stirring at the end of each cycle until the chocolate is melted. 

Step 8

Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled macaroons.
