Ingredients

  • 2 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel bits
  • Coarse sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a baking sheet by greasing or lining the pan with parchment paper.
  • Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. In a mixing bowl beat together the butter, shortening, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until creamy.
  • Add the eggs and beat until well blended. Mix in the vanilla. Gradually add the flour mixture and beat until well combined. Add the chocolate chip and caramel bits and stir in by hand or a spatula.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoon onto the prepared baking sheet. Place in the oven and bake 11 to 13 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and cool cookies on baking sheet until set about a minute or so, remove from baking sheet and place on cooling rack and cool completely.
  • Store in an air tight container. 

Notes

These cookies freeze well.
