Beef and Beans

Beef and Beans a simple recipe made with a can of baked beans, hamburger, onion, brown sugar, ketchup, and mustard. This is a family favorite and it served whenever there is a family gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 pounds hamburger
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 28 ounces baked beans Store-bought such as Bush's

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • In a Dutch oven add the hamburger and chopped onion. Cook over medium heat until the hamburger is no longer pink and the onion is tender. Drain any excess grease.
  • Add the mustard, ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce and stir in.
  • Add the can of beans and stir in.
  • Place the beans in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven give a final stir and serve.

Notes

  1. Buy a quality can of baked beans. I like to use Bush's Baked Beans for this recipe.
  2. Use a lean hamburger for the recipe.
  3. Once the hamburger is browned remove excess grease.
  4. Make sure to preheat the oven before baking the beef and beans.
