Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped peanuts

Cream cheese filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese room temperature
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan
  • For the bars - cream together the peanut butter and the butter in a medium bowl. Add the brown sugar and 1/2 cup sugar and mix in. Mix in the egg and vanilla. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt and mix in.
  • Reserve 1 1/2 cups of dough. Pat the rest of the dough in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. 
  • Prepare the cream cheese filling- In a medium beat the cream cheese with an electric mixer for about 20 seconds. Add in the peanut butter and beat in. Cream in the sugar. Mix in the egg just until combined. Add the vanilla and mix in.
  • Spread the cream cheese filling over the bottom layer. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped peanuts over top of the cream cheese filling. Crumble the reserved dough over top of the chocolate chips and peanuts.
  • Place the bars in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes or until the bars are lightly browned.
