I love the combination of blueberries, strawberries, and peaches, so I decided to try a smoothie with this combination. I really never made smoothies before I started my blog, but after reading about so many wonderful recipe, I have been sneaking a few of these luscious treats in for my family.
Our daughters and granddaughter were here for dinner last Friday night and I thought it would be a great opportunity to make a smoothie treat. I love serving these because it feels like you are having a yummy dessert, but it is healthy for you, so you don’t have to feel guilty for indulging.
I wish you could have seen our granddaughter’s face when I brought the smoothies out for dessert, she knew she was getting something yummy to eat. Our daughter couldn’t feed it fast enough for her. I added a little sugar to sweeten the fruit where normally I would have used honey, but I guess children under 1 year of age are not supposed to eat honey. So if you would like to sweeten your smoothie with honey feel free to do so.
Summer Fruit Smoothie
Ingredients:
1 cup blueberries
1 1/2 cups strawberries
2 medium peaches
1/2 cup or a 5.3 container of fat free Greek vanilla yogurt
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons sugar or honey (more or less depending on your taste)
Directions:
Slice strawberries and peaches. Place the blueberries, strawberries, and peaches in a Ziploc bag and place in the freezer until frozen. I placed my fruit in the freezer in the morning before I left for work and made the smoothies for dinner. When ready to make smoothie add the yogurt to a blender, milk and then add the fruit. Blend until smooth. Add your sugar 1 tablespoon at a time until you have desired sweetness. This will make about (5) 12 to 14 oz glasses.
Looks delicious! I’ve been making similar smoothies this summer and if I add a scoop of protein powder, they make an entire meal(at least in my world.) 🙂
A perfect summer treat!
That sounds yummy. I keep bananas in the freezer for my smoothies. Great idea!
I prefer a smoothie for dessert rather than for breakfast. They just seem better suited to that to me, for some reason. And this one would be perfect for that! Great job – thanks.
