One of the things that I love about this recipe, besides it being so easy to make, is that it is so versatile. It is easy to change the ingredients to make this dish the way that you like it.

Just like your favorite pizza, it has your favorite toppings and flavors. Serve it with a side salad, vegetables, or fresh fruit for a delicious, easy homemade meal that the whole family will love.

Helpful tips

  • The Italian sausage can be changed out with ground beef if preferred.
  • If using ground beef, season the meat with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning for a more flavorful dish.
  • I like the Italian sausage, green peppers, and onions, but try your own combinations of meats and vegetables that you like. There are so many different possibilities.
  • Make sure to mix the ingredients for the crust well. Try and pour the liquid evenly over the whole casserole.
  • The leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
  • Reheat leftovers in a 350 degree F oven for best results.
  • I have not tried freezing leftovers, but I don’t think I would recommend freezing them.

Ingredients that you will need

  • Italian Sausage – Ground beef can be used in place of the sausage.
  • Green Pepper
  • Onion
  • Pizza Sauce – I have used spaghetti sauce in place of the pizza sauce, and it works well.
  • Mozzarella Cheese – I like to use pre-shredded cheese to save time.
  • Egg
  • Milk – I use 2% milk, but whole fat or 1% milk will work.
  • Oil – Vegetable oil works well for this recipe.
  • Flour
  • Parmesan Cheese

This sounds wonderful! I’m sure my family would love it…but I’d probably have to do a boring cheese version! Maybe I can add a few mushrooms to my slices ๐Ÿ™‚
