Orange Cinnamon Scones, are tenders scones with a combination of orange and cinnamon. The scones are topped with cinnamon icing for a little more sweetness.
I love baking with citrus any time of the year, but winter is probably when I enjoy baked goods with a citrus flavor the most. These scones have warm spices that really complement the orange flavor that are in these scones.
These scones are great for breakfast or brunch, but I like to serve them as a snack in the afternoon or a sweet end to my dinner. I think that you will agree that they are perfect for any time of the day.
Helpful Tips:
- Start with cold butter. Cut the butter into small pieces or you can grate the butter if you like.
- You will want to cut the orange section into small pieces, about the size of a large blueberry will work.
- Don’t over-mix the dough.
- The scones are best when they are fresh. So try to bake them shortly before they are served.
- Also, if the scones are not being served right away, they can be frozen. Cool completely before freezing them. Make sure to use an airtight container.

This is not doing any good to me 🙁 because I just consider a low-carb diet. The problem is that I LOVE carbs. O man..I wish I could grab one off from the screen. They look scrumptious, Dawn.
I actually don’t think I have ever combined those two, nor have I ever seen whole orange segments in a scone! Very intriguing on both points!
I yet have to bake scone…but never thought in combining orange and cinnamon…sounds interesting and would love to try one day.
They make a great combo in these delectable looking scones! Sometimes I sprinkle cinnamon on my oranges and on cantaloupe too. Love those chunks of orange peeking out!
Did I miss something? The orange sections are in the icing? Or baked in the scone….. your directions don’t say
I am sorry, the orange sections go in the scones. I have updated the recipe. Thank you for bringing it to my attention>
