A healthy smoothie… a great way to end the week.
I bought a big bag of oranges… so now I am trying to find ways to use them all up. I actually wanted just a couple of oranges, but it was more expensive to buy the oranges individually than to buy a whole bag.
Really it shouldn’t be that hard to use them up in recipes. I love baking with oranges… as you saw in my last post with the orange and cinnamon scones.
With the weather finally starting to warm up, I thought it would be a great opportunity to make some smoothies. Plus the fact that it was Friday, I couldn’t think of a better way to end the week than with a nice healthy drink.
Since we loved the orange and cinnamon scones that I mention earlier I decided to slip a little cinnamon into this smoothie. I am a big fan when it comes to cinnamon and was curious if it would taste as yummy in the smoothie as it did in the scones.
I had mixed reactions on this. My daughters who were at our house when I made this, loved the cinnamon. As for Mike he was not quite as sure as they were, he thought it was just okay. As for me I thought it was a great addition to the orange smoothie.
Have you had cinnamon in an orange smoothieย before? What do you think?
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen orange segments
- 2 cups orange juice
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or to taste
Instructions
- Peel and break the orange segments apart. Place in plastic bag and freeze. I froze mine for about 8 hours.
- Combine all of the ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into individual glasses and enjoy.
Notes
Love the additions of cinnamon. I have all the ingredients. Can’t wait to try it.
Yes, now that I am getting used to the idea of orange and cinnamon, this smoothie sounds and looks very tasty…like the yogurt in it…
Have a wonderful week ahead Dawn ๐
You are on an orange and cinnamon kick!! I really have yet to meet a recipe where I didn’t love cinnamon in it…so I’m sure I’d be into it!
Yeah, it always kills me when I can get a big bag of something cheaper than 2 or 3. Weird, isn’t it? And I can never resist buying the bag either! Anyway, terrific idea for a smoothie — really like this. Thanks.
I’d love this for breakfast! And adding a sprinkle of cinnamon sounds lovely!
P.S. Your scones look marvelous, too!
Love this smoothie Dawn, look really delicious!
