This time of year I can’t to seem to get enough of citrus flavors. I find myself craving oranges and clementines, and find myself eating them just about every day. Since it is the time of year for great citrus, I could not resist making some citrus scones.
I found a recipe that called for lemon and lime in the scones, but decided to add some orange to the mix as well. The citrus flavor is wonderful in these scones and the citrus icing gives it an extra sweetness and a touch more citrus flavor.
I decided instead of mixing the juice from the lime, lemon, and orange to make one icing that I would feature each juice in their own icing and then drizzle over top of the scones. This gave a nice burst of citrus flavor to each scone.
I love the bright colors of the citrus fruits at this time of year and the sweet taste that they offer. They are definitely great to eat by themselves, but I do love baking and cooking with them too. What is your favorite citrus flavor?
