Helpful tips
- Use quality chocolate and peanut butter chips for best results
- The recipe calls for milk chocolate chips, but you can substitute semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips.
- Don’t forget the shortening when melting the chips. The shortening will help thin out the melted chips and make it easier to coat the pretzels.
- Melt the chocolate and peanut butter chips slowly in the microwave. Microwaving too long can cause the chocolate chips to seize up becoming grainy and lumpy. The peanut butter chips could burn.
- Place a few of the pretzels in the melted chocolate at one time. This will save some time. Using a fork to coat each pretzel until completely covered.
- Once the pretzel is coated with the melted chocolate tap the fork on the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to place the coated pretzels on. This will make for easy cleanup and the coated pretzels will not stick to the paper.
- To dry the pretzels faster place them in the refrigerator or freezer until the chocolate is dried.
- Use a fork to drizzle the melted peanut butter chips over the pretzels. You can use as little or as much as you desire.
- Store the completed pretzels in an airtight container in a cool dry place. I like to store them in the refrigerator. The pretzels will stay nice for several weeks.
