Chocolate Cake Brownies are soft and chewy brownies that the whole family will love. They are made with just a few ingredients that you probably have in your kitchen.

Brownies are so simple to make, and there are so many ways that you can serve them. My favorite way is to serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce. They are delicious every time.

This recipe is simple to make, and it comes together in no time at all. One of the most critical things when making brownies is not to overbake them. You will love how rich and moist this recipe is.

Helpful Tips:

  • Use real butter for this recipe. Do not substitute oil or margarine.
  • Use natural cocoa powder for this recipe.
  • Don’t over bake the brownies. Use a wooden pick to check for doneness. Insert in the middle of brownies, when the pick comes out with a few moist crumbs or clean the brownies are done.
  • These brownies can be frozen.

Here are the ingredients you will need for these brownies:

  • Cocoa – Natural cocoa powder will work best for this recipe.
  • Butter – Use real butter for this recipe for best results. I like to use salted butter for this recipe, but unsalted butter will also work.
  • Eggs – Use large eggs for this recipe. The eggs add moisture, richness, and tenderness to the brownies.
  • Sugar – It does not only give sweetness to the brownies, but it helps to keep them moist.
  • Vanilla
  • Salt – This enhances the sweetness of the brownies.

Steps for making Chocolate Cake Brownies

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9 by 13-inch pan.

Hi Angie, I have never used Dutch processed cocoa before so I am not familiar with it. I did a little research and it looks like you could use it since the recipe does not call for baking soda or baking powder.

I totally agree that there are so many awesome ways to make brownies. I love a good chocolate cake, so I am totally down to make these brownies. And we do frozen pizza on occasion around here, too. It’s not glamorous, but it’s easy. And sometimes you just need easy! ๐Ÿ™‚ Brownies and pizza sounds like a great Friday meal to me!
