Ingredients

  • 5 1/2 to 6 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups old fashion oatmeal
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups raisin
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 9 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl combine 1 cup flour, old fashion oats, yeast, salt, brown sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
  • Heat the milk, water, and butter to 120 to 130 degrees F.  Add to the dry ingredients and mix in. Add the eggs and with a wooden spoon mix until well blended. mix in the raisins.
  • Gradually add the remaining flour, mixing by hand. You will want the dough slightly sticky. In the bowl knead the dough until it is smooth. Grease the bottom of the bowl and turn the bread over to grease both sides.
  • Cover the bread and let it rise for about an hour or until it is double in size. Once the bread is ready lightly punch down. Divide the dough into 24 pieces and roll into buns
  • Place the buns onto a greased baking pan about 2 inches apart. Let rest for 1/2 hours.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 while the buns are resting. Once the buns are ready place them in the preheated oven and bake 10 to 12 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  • To make the icing place the powdered sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl gradually add enough cream (milk or water) to make the right consistency for drizzling.
