Ingredients

Pizza Crust

  • 2 to 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons yeast
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons olive oil

Pizza Toppings

  • 1 medium onion Thinly sliced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms Thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil for the top of the pizza crusts
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning or to taste

Instructions

Pizza crust

  •    In a medium bowl mix one cup of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt mix together. Add the water and olive oil.
  • Mix in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough. Set aside

Caramelized onions and mushrooms

  • Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to a large skillet or enough to coat the bottom of the skillet.
  • Add the onions and saute until they start to soften about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Add the mushroom and garlic to the onions and continue to saute for another 13 to 15 minutes.

Making the pizza

  • Preheat the oven to 425 F degrees. Grease a baking sheet/pizza pan.
  • Divide the pizza dough in half. Make a 7-inch circle, adding a lip to the edge of the crust. Repeat with the other half.
  • Brush pizza crust with olive oil
  • Divide the mozzarella cheese and sprinkle the cheese over the olive oil, saving about one ounce to sprinkle over the onion and mushrooms
  •  Top the cheese with your caramelized onions and mushrooms
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese over top of the onion and mushrooms
  • Sprinkle Italian seasoning over top of pizza
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 13 to 15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Notes

  1. Read the full instructions before making this recipe.
  2. If you are making homemade pizza dough, you will want to have the dough made before cooking the onions so that it has time to rest.
  3. Store-bought pizza dough will work for this recipe if you are short on time.
  4. The pizza can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.
  5. It is best to reheat the pizza in the oven. Set the temperature to 350 degrees F and heat until the desired temperature. For a faster way to heat the pizza, use the microwave.
